Drying

Vísir owns half of the drying factory Haustak in Reykjanes, alongside with Þorbjörn Fiskanes. There, heads and bones are dried by natural steam-power and exported to Nigeria. Drying racks have been erected at Haustak and there tusk and other varieties are dried. Ling has also been dried into the so-called “lutfish”.

In Djúpivogur new drying racks have been constructed and heads and stockfish are hung there
